Deputy Minister of Health, Professor Dr. Tran Van Thuan, visited the Vietnam - Korea Medical

Cooperation (Vikomed) on the morning of November 7, 2024. This visit highlighted the interest of state agencies and enterprises in the healthcare sector and marked a significant occasion for Vikomed, which is Vietnam's only X-ray factory.

During the meeting, Deputy Minister Tran Van Thuan praised Vikomed's products, particularly their compact medical devices that meet the public health needs. He expressed hope that Vikomed would continue to innovate, especially by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into their medical equipment, thus enhancing healthcare in Vietnam and promoting the Vietnamese brand internationally.

Vikomed presented several key recommendations regarding domestic medical equipment production, including:

- Strengthening support policies for local manufacturers through tax incentives and financial assistance to enhance competitiveness against imported products. Additionally, simplifying the licensing process and reducing costs for domestically produced equipment is essential.

- Prioritizing the use of locally made medical equipment in public health facilities, which would improve quality and foster public trust.

- Supporting the development of international sales channels by facilitating Vietnamese companies' participation in exhibitions to promote domestic medical equipment and expand export opportunities.

The working group representative acknowledged these recommendations for future consideration. Following the meeting, the Ministry of Health delegation toured Vikomed's X-ray factory and production line, successfully concluding Deputy Minister Tran Van Thuan's visit.
